Tips for getting it right!

Although Discount Disc Duplication offer low prices, this does not mean that there is any compromise on getting the job right, first time. Errors are costly to the duplicator, and frustrating for you the client.

Based on many years experience, we suggest, nay insist on the following rules to ensure that your job is error free, and completely timely.

Label Everything

Please make sure that discs are clearly labelled. Try to name artwork files with something relevant to the job. Too many artwork files are called “disc design” or similar. Supplying an unlabelled disc is a sure recipe for disaster, but never use ballpoint pens to label a disc. Use only felt tipped pens, or even better special disc pens.

Avoid Verbal Orders

A clearly typed or handwritten order ensures that we all know what is required. Include the following:

  1. Contact details, particularly your name, email and phone numbers.

  2. You are and will be a valued and special customer, but we do many jobs a day, so when a job arrives by courier with no contact name, we have a problem until you contact us. If there is a question about the job, we don’t know who to contact. Your order or reference number (if applicable).

  3. Make Sure That You Can Be Contacted, particularly if your job is urgent. sometimes there is a query, and we cannot continue until contacting you. If you are not going to be available, ensure that someone else can make decisions on your behalf.

  4. Details of any quotes previously given, or a copy of our quotation. If we have already given you a quote, please indicate this on your order.

  5. Quantity required.

  6. The Name of the Job, not essential, but useful.

  7. Printing requirements such as whether printing of black only or colour on the disc, and whether printing of jewel case inlays and covers is required.

  8. Packaging requirements - jewel cases, DVD cases, slimline cases, plastic or paper pockets, etc.

  9. Your deadline - We take great pride in meeting or exceeding delivery deadline, but if artwork or content is not to specification there will be unavoidable delay while we send proofs or disc samples. Our 10% discount for not meeting your agreed delivery time and date does not apply to art or content not to specification.

  10. Please do not place the content and the designs to be printed on the same disc. We do not play or examine the files on your disc, so you risk have your copies made with your printing specifications in every disc. we would then also need to re-master your disc, causing delay and adding to the cost.

Do Not Rely on Email or Fax

If the deadline is tight, do not rely on email both for messages and artwork or fax. If you want to ensure that your job is going smoothly, use the phone. Artwork (particularly Macintosh artwork) supplied is much more reliable if supplied on disc.

Check the Specifications

The biggest single cause of delays is data or artwork being supplied to the wrong specifications.

Do not supply:

  • Master discs recorded in the wrong mode.

  • Open-session master discs.

  • Packet-written master discs (as burned with programs such as InCD and DirectCD).

  • Scratched or fingerprinted master discs.

  • Artwork without the correct fonts.

  • Artwork with missing images.

  • Artwork without colour or monochrome proofs, so that we can see what you want.

  • Please allow time for proofs if required or artwork not to specification, and suggestions by our expert staff to obtain the best results

  • If you’re not sure about something, please check our specification sheets, or ask one of our expert and helpful staff on 02 9929 0707 or by email at info@disc-duplication.com.au.

Master Discs

When supplying a master, don't economise, please supply a well-known branded disc, such as Taiyo Yuden, That’s CD-R, Verbatim, Sony, TDK etc. "Bargain-priced" discs are never a bargain. We may not be able to duplicate a poorly mastered disc.

Burn your master at a maximum of 16x. Burning at a higher speed may save you a few seconds, but could result is an unreadable disc delaying your job.

Test your disc to ensure that it works properly.  We cannot and do not run the content of your disc.
